Piggy

Saffron (aka Piggy) is a terrier mix that my husband and I adopted from an animal shelter in Roanoke, Virginia in August of 1996.  She’s about 13 or 14 years old.  She started out as a Saffron.  One of my sisters visited us for Christmas break in 1996 and started calling her “Momma’s Good Little Piggy” because Saffron snorts when she gets excited.  Watching way too many reruns of “A Christmas Story” probably also contributed to Saffron’s new name.  “Momma’s Good Little Piggy” was just too long, so it was shortened to “Piggy.”

I started taking Piggy to agility class at JAZZ Agility Training in January of 2005. She really loves agility (except for that dreaded see-saw) and is a pleasure to run.  She’s very athletic and speedy for a gray bearded old lady.  Piggy has been to several run through sessions and fun matches and she’s competed in two trials so far.  She scored a perfect weekend at her first trial and qualified 7 out of 8 times in her second trial.  She’s also participating in the Capital District Agility Fun Group and has done very well in our first two play dates.  I am always amazed at how well she does agility and I hope to have her around for many more years of agility fun.
