Dog of the Month

Casino Million Dollar Jackpot (called Jackpot) is a seven year old Australian Shepherd that was raised by Mary VanDerCarr and came to live with Bob and Joyce Stephenson when he was three years old. Joyce started agility training and competing with Jackpot, but last year I took over to try an active role in agility.

Agility with Jackpot is really fun! He is very energetic and enthusiastic, and over the past year our teamwork has started to show improvement. We went through a long phase of his leaving the ring to find his mother (or food adrift) and my inexperienced handling caused a lot of run errors. However, we are starting to get our act together and really are enjoying our agility training and trials.

At home Jackpot’s job is to follow Joyce everywhere she goes -- everywhere! He also enjoys playing with our other dog, Lacey. His favorite game is to grab a toy to tease her. She takes it away and he gets another one (it doesn’t take much to amuse him). At night, he finally collapses in exhaustion.
